Manhee Yoon, The Gambia

Manhee Yoon is a missionary to The Gambia, who has been sent by Downsview Presbyterian Church.

A former pastor at Downsview Church, Manhee has served with Global Scholars Canada in The Gambia since 2017 and taught about 300 students during his tenure there. Manhee teaches in the new Christian Studies program at the University of The Gambia in Serrekunda. Living conditions here come with intermittent basic services for the family. Manhee published his first book in 2020 called The Fate of the Man of God from Judah.

The Gambia is the smallest country in mainland Africa, and most citizens live below the poverty level. Also a 95% Muslim country, all students are welcome in the courses of the Christian Studies program – the only access to studying Christianity in the country. This small outpost of Christian teaching is one of the key strategic locations in which GSC has been involved for many years already, with extended leadership from Glen Taylor, who is also a GSC scholar.
